Tim Nee Scholarship Fund

Managed by the CREC Foundation, the Tim Nee Scholarship Fund, formerly known as the MTCNE Discretionary Scholarship Fund, provides financial assistance to support individuals located in the northeastern United States who are pursuing an AMI diploma or certificate course through MTCNE. This scholarship reflects Tim Nee’s dedication to fostering excellence and increasing access to Montessori education in the region. His steadfast commitment to providing high-quality Montessori training has left a lasting impact on our community.

General Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in an MTCNE AMI Diploma or registered for an MTCNE AMI Certificate Course.
  • Must be a resident of the northeastern United States.
  • Demonstrated financial need (e.g., FAFSA Student Aid Report or other financial documentation)*.
  • Commitment to the Montessori philosophy and dedication to pursuing a career in Montessori education.
  • Academic achievement and readiness to complete the program.

*For those who cannot access FAFSA, acceptable documentation may include scholarship/sponsorship award letters, proof of income (e.g., tax returns, pay stubs, or employer verification letters).

Additional Eligibility Considerations for Prioritization

  • Career Commitment: Applicants with a demonstrated intention to pursue a career in Montessori education, especially in underserved or diverse communities.
  • Community Impact: Candidates with a history of community involvement or volunteer service aligned with Montessori values.
  • Underrepresented Students: Special consideration for those who are underrepresented in Montessori teacher training programs.

To be considered for the Tim Nee Scholarship, please complete the Scholarship Questionnaire here and submit your Financial Aid Profile (demonstrating financial need, e.g., FAFSA Student Aid Report) via email to mtcneadmissions@crec.org, using the subject line: Tim Nee Scholarship.

Please note: Candidates must be enrolled in an MTCNE program prior to the scholarship application deadlines listed below to be considered. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Scholarship Application Deadlines

  • Summer program start: April 3
  • Fall program start: July 3
  • Spring program start: December 3

Review Process

Once your application is received, eligibility will be reviewed. The Scholarship Review Committee will meet shortly after the deadline to evaluate submissions. Scholarship awards will be determined by the committee, and recipients will be notified. Please note: An award is not guaranteed.

Award Amount

Scholarship awards are based on available funds and the number of applications received. The maximum award possible is up to 50% of full tuition.
