It is a human tendency to communicate with others. Dr. Montessori realized this, declaring “To talk is in the nature of man.” In this workshop, we will explore the extraordinary means by which the young child acquires language skills and how we might best foster this in the home and school setting. The importance of real experiences and using rich vocabulary will be discussed. Alongside the adult model, the most important language material in the environment, objects and cards may be presented to enhance language development. During this workshop, you will learn how to create a series of language materials for the toddler environment. We will discuss the basic criteria for choosing nomenclature objects and creating language cards, both identical and similar matching. Join other teachers and adults working with young children as we explore the wonder of language development for children under three years and leave with one full language set to bring back to your community or home environment.

The workshop will be led by Toko Odorczuk, Auxiliary Trainer. Most materials will be provided for the projects. Along with registration, attendees will receive a list of materials to bring for the workshop.
