Guided by expert AMI trainer Julia Ballesteros Sentíes, our upcoming Certified Practitioner Practicum (CPP) cohorts. We offer two Cohort cycles per year.

This comprehensive certification empowers you to bring the innovative Montessori approach directly into your care setting, transforming the daily lives of older adults and individuals living with dementia or other disabilities. As a certified practitioner, you will not only implement these meaningful engagement strategies hands-on but also serve as a knowledgeable mentor and vital resource for your entire care team.

The AMI Montessori for Dementia, Disability & Ageing (MDDA) Certified Practitioner Course deepens participants’ understanding and implementation of Montessori philosophy in work with older adults and people living with dementia or disability, connecting philosophy with observation, reflection, individualized planning, meaningful engagement, environmental adaptation, communication, and real-life implementation.

Earning your AMI-certified MDDA credential involves an engaging, rigorous practicum designed to bridge foundational Montessori theory with real-world clinical application. Alongside your workshop coursework, candidates complete a practicum and a series of practical assessments within a 12-month timeframe to demonstrate mastery of the approach:

  • Aged Care Observation and Reflection (10 points)
  • Creation of a 15-page Memory Book (10 points)
  • Spaced Retrieval Plan (10 points)
  • Case Study Action Plan (10 points)
  • Two Real-Life Case Studies (45 points each, supported by an objective observer’s report)
  • 1000-word Reflection Essay (10 points)
  • Multiple-Choice Quiz (10 points)
  • Timely Submission of all assessment tasks within 12 months of workshop completion (or equivalent) and adherence to specific task timeframes.
