School Resources & Professional Development

At the Montessori Training Center Northeast (MTCNE), we believe that strong communities grow from strong educators. Rooted in Hartford, Connecticut, and connected to a global network of Montessori practitioners, we are committed to advancing authentic Montessori education in schools across the region, nation, and world.

Whether you are a teacher, administrator, school leader, parent, or community partner, MTCNE supports your work through high-quality training, school-based professional development, consultation services, and access to shared community resources. We collaborate with public and independent Montessori programs to offer professional learning that is tailored to the needs of individual school communities and aligned with AMI principles, current research, and best practices in the field.

Together, we build thriving Montessori environments in service to children and the adults who guide them.

School-Based Training & Consultation

MTCNE offers professional development designed to meet the evolving needs of Montessori schools, educators, and families. Our workshops and services can be delivered in-person, online, or in hybrid formats, ensuring accessibility of time, location, and value for every school community we serve.

We welcome requests for custom sessions—our team will collaborate with you to design professional learning experiences tailored to your goals. Tailored offerings may include:

  • Teacher Workshops (for individual schools or a collective of schools)

Workshops for teachers span the full range of Montessori practice—from material making and lesson refinement to observation, assessment, and strengthening classroom systems. Assistant-level workshops highlight Montessori principles, shared responsibilities, and how to support the lead teacher with fidelity to the pedagogy.

  • Continuing Education for Montessori Professionals

MTCNE provides ongoing opportunities for Montessori guides to deepen their practice.
For alumni holding AMI Diplomas, we also offer the opportunity to audit lecture series as refreshers—an essential way to stay current on developments in Montessori philosophy, research, and instructional tools. We also host Regional Refresher Courses which are open to educators with Montessori teaching credentials.

  • Parent Workshops

Our faculty and consultants offer engaging, accessible workshops that introduce families to Montessori philosophy—including practical strategies for bringing Montessori principles into the home. Topic-specific sessions (e.g., language development, child development, supporting independence) are also available.

  • Support Staff Workshops

Every adult in a Montessori environment shapes the student experience. These sessions help support staff understand their role, apply Montessori principles in daily interactions, and strengthen consistency across the whole school community.

  • Administrator Workshops

School leaders play a vital role in shaping environments where Montessori practice can flourish. MTCNE partners with administrators to support leadership growth, strengthen systems, and deepen the schoolwide application of Montessori principles. Through consultation and tailored workshops, leaders engage in professional learning focused on:

    • Aligning Montessori practice with state curriculum requirements while preserving the integrity of the pedagogy

    • Strengthening school systems and observation structures to support consistency and accountability

    • Supporting adult development through effective supervision, coaching, and collaborative professional cultures

    • Enhancing community engagement and family partnerships that reflect Montessori values and honor the diverse communities schools serve

These workshops empower administrators to build thoughtful, well-prepared environments where both adults and children thrive, and where Montessori education remains authentic, responsive, and sustainable across the whole school community.
